On August 7, 2024, Khalifa Abdul-Sadiq, Libya’s Minister of Oil and Gas, was detained on charges of financial corruption. Abdul-Sadiq allegedly pressured a corporate accounting officer to approve the unauthorized transfer of €457.6 million to a foreign company.
