On August 12, 2024, Oleksandr Kheilo, Deputy Minister of Energy, was arrested on corruption charges. Oleksandr Kheilo was caught receiving a $500,000 bribe for facilitating the transfer of valuable coal mining equipment from a front-line area to a western Ukrainian enterprise. He was caught during the third installment of the payment.
