Ivanov allegedly diverted military funds from a high-profile reconstruction project in Mariupol, a Ukrainian city occupied by Russian forces. The substantial funding for the city’s reconstruction provided him with opportunities to enrich himself through secretive procurement deals. Ivanov reportedly funneled millions to his wife, who spent the money on luxury yachts, jewelry, and shopping in Paris to finance his lavish lifestyle.

If found guilty, Ivanov could be sentenced to a maximum of 15 years in prison. Additionally, he has been subjected to sanctions from both the U.S. and EU since 2022, coinciding with Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
