On November 26, 2023, Sheikh Khalid Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, a former defense, and interior minister of Kuwait, was sentenced to seven years in prison for mishandling military funds.

In the same case, former Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, facing similar charges, was ordered by the court to return the mismanaged funds.

The court also fined the defendants 340.50 million dollars and mandated repayment of double the embezzled amount, totaling 681 million dollars.

Sheikh Jaber and Sheikh Khalid were acquitted of embezzlement charges in March 2022, but the case was revived upon an appeal from the Kuwaiti prosecution.
